The Pennsylvania Wireless Association supports a number of charities, including the Penn State Children’s Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Hubble Foundation and Homes For Our Troops.
The history of the Penn State Children’s Hospital begins in 1963, when the M. S. Hershey Foundation offered $50 million to The Pennsylvania State University to establish a medical school and teaching hospital in Hershey.
With this grant and $21.3 million from the U.S. Public Health Service, the university built a medical school, teaching hospital, and research center.
Ground was broken in 1966, and Penn State’s College of Medicine opened its doors to the first class of students in 1967. Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center accepted its first patients in 1970. Beginning in the 1980s , a floor in the Medical Center was dedicated specifically for the care of children.
Since 1970, the campus has grown from 318 to 550 acres.

Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents out of every dollar spent has gone directly to our program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
