ARLINGTON, Va – Today Sens. Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) introduced the TOWER Infrastructure Deployment Act (TOWER Act). Their bill seeks to increase broadband deployment and close the workforce shortage in the telecommunications industry.
“WIA strongly supports the TOWER Act because it addresses one the biggest barriers to 5G deployment: the lack of a properly trained workforce. I would like to thank Sens. Gardner and Sinema for introducing this important measure. This bill will provide the FCC with the necessary focus to help train a 5G-ready workforce. We are especially pleased that a representative from the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program will serve on the newly formed Advisory Council. The road to 5G cannot be slowed by the lack of a trained workforce. We deeply appreciate the leadership of Sens. Gardner and Sinema on addressing this vital issue,” said Matt Mandel, Head of Government Affairs of the Wireless Infrastructure Association.
