ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wireless Infrastructure Association today announced the launch of the Telecommunications Education Center’s Authorized Training Partner (ATP) program with its first partner, Learning Alliance Corporation (LAC), to invest in 5G initiatives that will create new jobs and occupations. It is estimated that 5G will create three million new jobs throughout multiple industries, which includes wireless.
“This program provides the necessary skills training for the workforce that will physically build 5G infrastructure,” said WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein. “5G requires construction of new infrastructure, new skills, and new and transitioning talent. Through the ATP, TEC’s partners extend the educational reach and give more workers the opportunity to grow their careers through meaningful and good-paying jobs in a growing field. We need to attract a larger wireless workforce so that 5G training can provide opportunity for people who want to transition to this industry.”
“Being an ATP means being at the forefront of 5G. Our main goal is training and educating the next generation wireless workforce, so it makes sense to take on 5G as well,” said LAC CEO Cesar Ruiz. “Being an ATP will help provide the industry with trained professionals who are ready to take on these new 5G builds.”
“Education in this new technology is a necessary component to deploying an efficient and standardized system, and the only way to produce the desired outcome is through these types of partnerships,” said LAC CCO Fred Arnold.
LAC is working with organizations to incorporate hands-on training by using 5G technology to simulate in-the-field wireless infrastructure installation. The simulation space will use utility poles, rooftops, and towers – all infrastructure elements necessary for 5G build-out.
